The Falling of Autumn

Autumn has fallen at my house. Last week I told you that in my mind it was Autumn already and now it is so, at least inside my house. It happened over the weekend. The grands came to stay for the evening and we toted and dragged all the boxes and bins downstairs (a treacherous undertaking even when you are low to the ground, but, fear not, I was wearing my Apple Watch and so could have summoned the paramedics should the need have arisen.)

Anyway, we were pooped after that and I was left to sort the piles and stacks on Saturday. It was slow going.

Mostly because I can’t remember what I did last year and it wouldn’t matter anyhow as I have moved some furniture and lost a bookcase, but gained a whole room, so I am starting from scratch.

Over the course of the weekend I did manage to pull it all together, even with distractions. Place some pumpkins, play a game of FreeCell, arrange the island display, make a sandwich, create an autumnal vignette, sit with a cup of coffee and a crossword.

I have a few holes to fill, but the house is ready for all the fall fun to follow. I’ve got three sets of company coming next week and more the week after, so I had to get it done.

I work better with a deadline.

I’m showing you my decorations to get you in the spirit, too. As your Senior Influencer, it’s my job to whip you into a frenzy of boxes and bins that you, too, will have to drag from the attic.

You think that’s bad? Just wait til Christmas!

  1. Your energy is remarkable. I enjoyed the various trees I put on my mantle last Christmas. Leaving them in place was easier than packing them away. Plus I could tell when it got too crowded and I needed to stop shopping the after Christmas sales!

  2. Not sure if it’s energy or a fear that if I don’t decorate, the earth will fall off its axis. And …. It is fun.
